The European Food Emulsifiers Manufacturers Association (EFEMA) was established in 1974.
The main objectives are to support and promote the general scientific, economic, and technical interests of European producers of food emulsifiers that are based on fats and their derivatives. Particularly:
1. To establish and maintain contacts with relevant legislative and advisory bodies and authorities
2. To prepare and suggest standards and specifications for membersí products, consistent with good manufacturing practice, safety in use, and consumer protection
3. To co-operate with other relevant associations and consumers of food emulsifiers
4. To promote and inform stakeholders about emulsifiers and their use
